Parameter estimation challenge: Model 3 data for protein 6
Hi, one more question, this time regarding the startup data for mRNA of protein 6 in model 3.
According to the description of model 3, protein 6 activates itself, implying a multiplicative factor of ([p6]/v6_Kd)^v6_h in the term for mRNA production.
The initial conditions of model 3 have [p6]=0 at time t=0, however, which seems to mean that the Hill term above should equal 0, no mRNA should be produced, and thus no p6 should ever be produced.
On the other hand, the startup data shows that mRNA for p6 is in fact produced. How is this possible?
Thanks, Po-Ru

Oops, never mind -- just
Oops, never mind -- just realized that multiple activators act additively rather than multiplicatively. Sorry!
